Amanda Seyfried Biography

Amanda Seyfried, born on December 3rd, 1985, was a former child model and is now an actress. She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and attended William Allen High in Allentown. She is currently a student at Fordham University in New York. Her acting career started in soap operas, and has recently broken into the film industry.

Seyfried played the part of Lucy in the CBS soap, As the World Turns in 2000. Moving on from there, she played the role of Joni in ABC's All My Children from 2002-2003. Her debut on the big screen came when she was given the role of Karen Smith in the teen film Mean Girls, starring alongside Lindsay Lohan, Rachael McAdams, and Lacey Chabert. With this film's huge success, she was catapulted into greater recognition. She played one of the nine lead roles in the movie Nine Lives which was released in 2005, and she subsequently continued her television career in the drama Veronica Mars. She appeared as a wild, outgoing, and style conscious teen, and enjoyed the role immensely, although she originally auditioned for the lead role of the title character Veronica and lost it to Kirsten Bell.

Amanda has had both major and minor guest roles in the television series House, Law and Order, Justice, CSI, and has a regular role as Rebecca in the series Wildfire. Her most prominent current role is the main character Sarah in the HBO series Big Love. This drama about a family steeped in controversial and slightly comical polygamy has received excellent reviews from viewers and critics, and has led to even larger success for Amanda. She will be appearing in the films, which are currently being produced, Solstice, and Alpha Dog. As a child, she modeled for several magazines, and even appeared of three covers for books by Francine Pascal.
